As a self-confessed chocolate lover, I’ve baked, and devoured, my fair share of chocolate cakes. Each one was delicious in its own right, but this Oreo chocolate Bundt cake? It leaves every single one in the dust!

The Ultimate Oreo Chocolate Bundt Cake

The cake itself boasts a deeply rich chocolate flavor, but it’s the scattered Oreo pieces that deliver that delightful, unexpected twist.

Far from dry, this Oreo Bundt cake is wonderfully moist and impossibly soft; the kind that practically melts on your tongue. Simple enough for a cozy family dessert, yet impressive enough to serve to guests.

Recipe Ingredients

Turn an ordinary chocolate Bundt cake into something truly mouth-watering with the addition of chopped Oreo cookies and a melted white chocolate topping. Don’t skip the full details in the recipe card below.

  • cocoa powder – provides a rich chocolate flavor. Use unsweetened as this cake is already sweet enough from the rest of the ingredients
  • dark chocolate – for added chocolate decadence
  • boiling water – melts the dark chocolate and dissolves the cocoa powder
  • sour cream – provides ample moisture and a slight tangy flavor to balance the sweetness. You can replace the sour cream with full-fat Greek yogurt or crème fraîche. This will give a similar moist texture and slightly tangy flavor
  • flour – all purpose flour is a sturdy flour for this Oreo Bundt cake. If you want to replace for self-rising flour make sure to check the article on the difference and how to substitute all-purpose flour for self-rising flour
  • baking soda – helps the cake to rise while baking
  • pinch of salt – balances and enhances the flavors
  • unsalted butter – I prefer to use unsalted butter for better salt control. Allow the butter to soften for easy creaming
  • sugar – use light brown caster sugar for a caramel-like richness and added moisture. It also dissolves better in the batter
  • vanilla extractuse homemade extract for the best depth of flavor
  • eggs – use large eggs, brought to room temperature
  • Oreos – roughly chopped and folded into the batter. You might not be able to see the Oreos folded into the batter very well anymore, but you can definitely taste them
  • topping – this decadent topping consists of melted white chocolate poured over the cooled Bundt cake, followed by a sprinkle of chopped Oreo cookies

How To Prepare The Bundt Pan

Proper pan preparation is key to a flawless Bundt cake. Brush the entire interior with oil or melted butter, then add flour and swirl until lightly and evenly coated.

Tap out any excess over the sink; a thin layer ensures a smooth exterior. Pour the batter in and spread evenly.

How To Remove The Bundt Cake

Bake this Oreo Bundt cake until a wooden skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from the oven and place on a wire rack. Let the cake cool in the pan for at least 10 minutes. The edges should start to pull away slightly.

Place a plate or board over the pan, flip it over in one swift motion, and gently lift the pan. The cake should release with a soft ‘plop.’ Cool completely on a rack before adding the topping.

Bundt cakes are great for any occasion, whether you need a cake worthy of the holidays or something for a casual afternoon tea. Here are some of my favorites.

FAQ Oreo Bundt Cake

Why did my Bundt cake stick to the pan?

Bundt pans need to be greased very thoroughly, especially detailed pans. Use butter or baking spray and dust with flour if needed. Also, let the cake cool in the pan for 15-20 minutes before turning it out, too soon and it may break. If you want to know what my favorite baking pans are?

How do I know when my cake is done baking?

Insert a skewer or cake tester into the thickest part of the cake. If it comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs, the cake is done.

What size Bundt pan should I use?

I’ve used a 25 cm (10 inch) Bundt cake pan. Using a smaller pan may cause the batter to overflow.

Can I reduce the sugar to make it less sweet?

Yes, although the sugar contributes not only sweetness but also moisture and structure. Reducing it too much may affect the texture of the cake.

Can I refrigerate this Oreo Bundt cake?

I don’t recommend storing this Bundt cake in the fridge as it can easily dry out.

Oreo Chocolate Bundt Cake

This Oreo Chocolate Bundt Cake is the most delicious chocolate cake you’ll ever taste! Wonderfully moist, rich, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious.
Preparation15 minutes
Cooking1 hour
Cool Time15 minutes
Total1 hour 30 minutes
Servings: 22 servings

Ingredients

  • 70 grams unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 170 grams dark chocolate
  • 180 ml boiling water
  • 250 grams sour cream
  • 210 grams all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 150 grams unsalted butter
  • 450 grams light brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 5 large eggs
  • 15 Oreo cookies

Topping

  • 175 grams white chocolate
  • 4-5 Oreo cookies roughly chopped

Equipment

  • 25 cm / 10-inch Bundt pan

Instructions

  • Place the cocoa powder and dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the boiling water over the top and stir until the chocolate has completely melted. Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then stir in the sour cream until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a third bowl, beat the butter, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Alternately add the flour mixture and the chocolate mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until you have a smooth batter.
  • Roughly chop the Oreo cookies and gently fold them into the batter.
  • Pour the batter into a greased and floured 25 cm (10-inch) Bundt pan.
  • Bake for 60 minutes at 350°F/180°C (conventional oven). Because this cake is so moist, a cake tester or skewer may come out with a few moist crumbs attached. That’s exactly what you want.
  • Let the cake cool completely before making the topping.
  • Melt the white chocolate over a double boiler and pour it evenly over the cooled Bundt cake. Immediately sprinkle the chopped Oreo cookies over the still-soft chocolate.
  • You can slice the cake while the white chocolate is still slightly soft (which is absolutely delicious!), or let the chocolate set completely before serving. Either way, I’m sure you’ll love this cake.
