Mango yogurt popsicles

Making these Greek yogurt popsicles with mango is a breeze — and bonus: they’re on the healthier side! Just one teaspoon of honey is all it takes.

The mango brings enough natural sweetness that you’ll forget you’re indulging in a “healthy” ice cream. Shhh… we won’t tell. What better treat to serve on a hot summer day?

What you need for making these homemade popsicles

You really don’t need a lot for making these easy fruity popsicles. Obviously you will need popsicle molds. Any shape will do but these hearts are just the cutest and work really well with the mango popsicle recipe. The list of simple ingredients is:

  • ripe mangoes – you can use both fresh mango or mango puree
  • Greek yogurt – I went with plain Greek yogurt but you can also use vanilla Greek yogurt for a different flavor. Do use the 10% fat content as otherwise they will be too watery, which will result in ice crystals forming. You need the creamy texture of the fattier version.
  • honey – using the honey is optional. It depends largely on the sweetness of the mango. Keep in mind that once frozen the sweetness will dull a little so that’s why I add a bit of honey to enhance the natural flavor of the mango
  • lemon juice – the lemon juice is also used to bring out the flavor of the mango. It freshens it up a bit and makes the mango extra delicious

Popsicle Art: Two Ways to Swirl

Get creative with how you fill your molds!

  • In the first photo (left/top), I layered the mango and yogurt for a fun striped look.
  • In the second (right/bottom), I swirled the layers together with a skewer — every popsicle will become a unique masterpiece!

FAQs: Your Yogurt Ice Cream Questions Answered

Can I use mini Magnum molds?

You totally can! Just keep in mind they’re a bit smaller — around 35 ml vs. the 50 ml of the heart-shaped ones. You’ll end up with more pops, which honestly isn’t a bad thing.

Can I swap out the mango?

Absolutely! Any fresh fruit that pairs well with Greek yogurt will work. Just remember: mango is naturally sweet and creamy. If you’re using something more watery or tart (like berries), add a little extra honey or sweetener.  Especially for the summer season there are many more fruits to choose.

Do I have to use honey?

Nope! Honey adds a nice touch of flavor, but you can sub in maple syrup, powdered sugar, or skip the sweetener altogether if you prefer a sugar-free treat.

Can I make these dairy free?

You absolutely can. You can swap the Greek yogurt for coconut yogurt or another dairy-free yogurt.

I don't have popsicle moulds, can I still make these?

Sure. You can make these in small paper cups. Just add in the mango-yogurt mixture and place them in the freezer for a little bit before you insert the popsicle sticks.

How do I take a frozen popsicle out?

The easiest way to unmold the popsicles is to run a bit of warm water over the back of the popsicle mold for a few seconds. That should make them release easily.

Greek Yogurt popsicles with Mango

Delicious Greek Yogurt popsicles with Mango that is very popular with both children and adults!
Prep Time5 minutes
Cook Time4 hours
Total Time4 hours 5 minutes
Servings: 6 popsicles

Ingredients

  • 100 grams ripe mango
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 200 ml Greek yogurt 10%
  • 1-2 tsp honey to taste
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract

Equipment

  • 6 popsicle molds

Instructions

  • Cut the mango into small cubes (or mash it finely, but this only works with very ripe mango). Mix with the lemon juice and 40 ml water in a saucepan. Heat for 5-10 minutes, stirring constantly. The mango will soften and the mixture will thicken. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Puree with an immersion blender.
  • Stir the honey and vanilla extract into the yogurt. Fill the popsicle molds by alternating two teaspoons of the yogurt mixture with one teaspoon of the mango mixture.
  • When they are completely filled (to the brim), swirl a skewer (or the back of a spoon) to create a nice pattern, mixing the fillings a little.
  • Place the popsicle molds in the freezer for at least 4 hours.
Tips

Feel free to substitute another fruit for the mango, but keep in mind that not all fruits are as sweet as mango.
