Oreo Balls

With just three ingredients, you can make these delicious Oreo balls yourself. So grab some Oreos, cream cheese, and chocolate to get started!
Preparation15 minutes
Chill30 minutes
Total45 minutes
Servings: 16 balls

Ingredients

  • 28 Oreo cookies
  • 100 grams cream cheese
  • 350 grams chocolate
  • Sprinkles optional

Instructions

  • Roughly chop the cookies with a knife, then place the Oreo pieces in a food processor or blender and process until you have fine crumbs. Transfer the crumbs to a bowl and add the cream cheese. Mash everything together with a fork, then continue mixing and kneading with your hands until combined.
  • You can also use a mixer for this, but it's really easy to do by hand.
  • Roll the mixture into balls and place them in the freezer for a little while to firm up.
  • Meanwhile, get your sprinkles ready and melt the chocolate. Melt two-thirds of the chocolate in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of gently simmering water. When it is almost completely melted, remove the bowl from the heat and add the remaining chocolate. Stir gently until all the chocolate has melted.
  • Is your chocolate too thick for dipping? Thin it with a little cocoa butter or neutral vegetable oil, such as sunflower oil.
  • Now it's time to coat the Oreo balls in a delicious layer of chocolate. Keep a fork handy for easy dipping. A regular fork works just fine, although a special chocolate dipping fork makes the job even easier. You can also make your own by taking a plastic fork and breaking off the middle tine or tines.
  • Remove the Oreo balls from the freezer. It's easiest to work in small batches of about four at a time. Dip each ball into the melted chocolate until completely coated. Lift it out with a fork and allow the excess chocolate to drip off before placing it on a sheet of parchment paper. Immediately add sprinkles, if using.
  • Now all you have to do is be patient and wait for the chocolate coating to set completely.

Tips

  • A special chocolate dipping fork makes dipping the balls easier, although a regular forks too.
  • Line a baking sheet/tray with parchment paper to place the chocolate-dipped balls onto. This reduces mess and is easier for removing the set balls when ready to serve.
  • Learn how to temper chocolate without a thermometer for best results.
How to store
Not eating them all right away? Store the Oreo truffles in the refrigerator in an airtight container. Because the filling contains cream cheese, they should be kept chilled.
