Ingredients
4sheetspuff pastryI used small squares of around 4 inch/10 cm
Grated cheesemedium or sharp
Salt and pepper
Beaten egg
Instructions
Cut each puff pastry sheet into 4 strips and brush them with egg. Use a fork to poke a few holes into the dough and sprinkle cheese over the strips.
Place the strips on a baking sheet and season with a little pepper and salt if you like. It's optional, but extra tasty.
Bake the puff pastry cheese straws for 14 minutes at 225°C/437°F (conventional oven).
Tips
Try topping them with sesame seeds, Italian herbs, or paprika for variation.
How to store
They keep for about 3-4 days. Cover them with aluminum foil and store at room temperature.
