Homemade Peanut Sauce

A good peanut sauce deserves a place in every recipe collection. It's delicious with BBQ, tabletop grilling (gourmet), satay, or of course alongside nasi.

Servings: 1 portion

Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tsp sambal or more to taste
  • 300 ml full-fat coconut milk
  • 100 grams peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp sweet soy sauce ketjap manis

Instructions

  • Heat a small saucepan over medium heat with a little oil. Add the garlic, grated ginger, and sambal, and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Reduce the heat to low and pour in the coconut milk.
  • Add the peanut butter and sweet soy sauce. Stir until the sauce is smooth and fully combined.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. Add more sambal for extra heat, a little more sweet soy sauce for a richer, sweeter flavor, or an extra tablespoon of peanut butter if you prefer a thicker sauce.
How to store
Store the peanut sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It also freezes well for up to 3 months.
